There was a morning, a few months into carnivore, when everything looked right.
My inflammation was down.
My energy was up.
My clothes fit differently.
I felt strong.
I felt clear.
And then, standing in my kitchen holding a plate of food I was proud of, I started crying for no reason I could explain.
Nothing was wrong.
My body had never felt better.
So why did I feel like I was falling apart?
Your Body Can Heal Faster Than Your Emotions Do
Here’s something nobody tells you when you start eating this way.
The body responds fast.
Inflammation calms down.
Digestion improves.
Sleep gets better.
But your emotions don’t run on the same timeline.
Years of stress don’t disappear because your bloodwork improved.
Old grief doesn’t leave because you cut out sugar.
Anxiety doesn’t dissolve because your energy is steadier.
Sometimes, healing the body gives you enough stillness to finally feel everything you’d been too tired to feel before.
That’s Not a Setback. That’s the Work Starting.
I used to think feeling worse emotionally, while feeling better physically, meant something had gone wrong.
It hadn’t.
It meant I had finally created enough space to notice what was actually going on inside me.
For years, being exhausted, inflamed, and foggy gave me an excuse.
I didn’t have the energy to feel my feelings.
Once that excuse was gone, the feelings were still there. Waiting.
This Is Why FEEL Comes Right After EAT
The philosophy here isn’t EAT and stop.
It’s EAT. FEEL. BELIEVE. HEAL.
Each one builds on the last.
EAT gives your body a foundation.
FEEL asks you to actually pay attention to what’s happening inside that foundation.
Not numb it.
Not outrun it.
Not eat your way around it.
Feel it.
Feeling Something Isn’t the Same as Being Broken
We treat emotion like a malfunction.
Something to fix, medicate, or push down.
But feeling deeply isn’t a flaw in the system.
It’s the system working.
Grief means you loved something.
Anxiety means you care about the outcome.
Anger means a boundary was crossed.
Tears in your kitchen don’t mean you’re failing at healing.
They might mean healing finally has room to happen.
What I Do Now Instead of Pushing It Down
I’m not a therapist. I won’t pretend to be one.
But here’s what’s helped me personally, alongside the food:
Sitting in silence for a few minutes before I eat, instead of rushing straight to the plate.
Naming what I’m actually feeling, out loud, even if it sounds strange in an empty kitchen.
Praying, or just talking honestly to whatever you believe is bigger than you.
Letting a feeling move through me rather than immediately deciding what it means.
None of this fixes everything.
All of it helps.
You’re Allowed to Need More Than a Diet
If you’re eating clean, moving your body, doing everything “right,” and still feel lost some days — that doesn’t mean carnivore failed you.
It means you’re human.
Sometimes you need a friend.
Sometimes you need family.
Sometimes you need a counselor or someone trained to help you carry what you’re carrying.
Needing support isn’t the opposite of healing.
It’s part of it.
A Small Ritual That Helps Me Hold This Space
Healing the emotional side of this journey isn’t only about talk and stillness.
Sometimes it’s about surrounding yourself with things that remind you to slow down.
That’s part of why I put so much of myself into my Etsy shop — every piece there is made to hold that same intention. A physical reminder, sitting in your space, that you’re allowed to feel and heal at the same time.
It’s a small thing.
Small things add up.

Feeling Isn’t the Enemy of Healing. It’s the Proof It’s Working.
If your healthier body ever cracks open a feeling you weren’t expecting, don’t panic.
Don’t rush to explain it away.
Don’t decide something is wrong with the process.
Sit with it.
Let it move.
That crying morning in my kitchen wasn’t the diet failing.
It was the beginning of the next pillar.
EAT built the foundation.
FEEL is where I actually started healing.
BELIEVE and HEAL were still waiting for me, further down the road.
They usually are.
